What is the Salamander Racing Joker Series (SJS)?

The SJS is based on the premise of the Joker Lap. The Joker Lap originated in Rallycross as an alternate set of track, outside the bounds of the normal circuit, that a driver must complete once per race. In Gran Turismo 7, there are a number of tracks that offer the ability to perform a joker lap, although it is not enforced by the game mechanics.

FAQ

How can I race in the SJS?

Anyone can race in the SJS, but MEMBERS of the Salamander Racing youtube channel will be given priority. There will be a limited number of drivers/splits. This amount is TBD.

When are the SJS races?

The SJS series races will take place on a monthly basis. Specific dates, along with combo details will be posted in the Schedule section.

How are points awarded?

There are no points. This will be run as a series, with each event being a standalone set of races.

Are there special rules?

YES, you can find the basic rules document here. This document describes how the series works, the guidelines, racing etiquette, and rules for the overall series. Each track will have their own unique ruleset as well. Rules for the individual tracks take precedence over the basic rules. Rules docs for each event will be posted on the scheduled event page.

What makes the SJS so unique is that races will be operating outside the enforced game parameters of GT7. Each driver will need to read the rules for each event carefully to avoid a large penalty, or a disqualification.

Is there a qualifier for the event?

No, it will be on a first come, first serve basis, although this may change in the future if interest in the series exceeds expectations.

Are there prizes?

The short answer is, not yet. Once we have run a couple exhibition events and channel membership (and interest) increases, I plan to eventually offer some small prizes. This may include, but are not limited to, gift cards, Salamander Racing merch, etc.
